Tasting Notes
The younger sibling to Finca La Emperatriz Tinto, from estate plots of around twenty-five years of age on the same white-pebble soils. Tempranillo leads, with Garnacha filling out the mid-palate, aged roughly twelve to fifteen months in a mix of American and French oak. The nose offers ripe black cherry and damson layered with vanilla, sweet baking spice and a light toast. The palate is broad and generous, with well-judged oak, fine-grained tannins and a mineral thread that pulls the finish long. Classic Crianza Rioja with estate pedigree behind it — 92 Tim Atkin, 91 Robert Parker, 91 James Suckling.
